Handwriting can be a challenge for children. It requires a focused and structured attention span as each letter follows a sequence of events. Below is a writing sample from a child who has been receiving treatments for the past 3 months. The child's mother's primary goal was to seek improvements in his handwriting. The sample below was accomplished within a one hour time frame.
BEFORE SENSORY INPUT
Lack of eye contact
Feet kicking around, difficulty sitting still
Task required constant cueing
Tends to repeat the given instructions throughout the task
AFTER SENSORY INPUT
More organization in writing
Diminished need for verbal cues
Calm body and focused attention
